Last month, the Fortuner belonging to BJP President JP Nadda's wife, which was stolen, has been recovered in Varanasi. This SUV was stolen on the 19th of March from the Govindpuri area in Delhi. The driver lodged a police complaint, which led to a large-scale search operation for the car.
According to the police, suspects Shahid and Shivang Tripathi were arrested in connection with the SUV theft. The accused had arrived in a Creta to steal the vehicle. After taking the Fortuner to Badkal, they changed the number plates and then traveled through Aligarh, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bareilly, Sitapur, and Lucknow before reaching Varanasi. The accused were planning to send the car to Nagaland and had stolen it on demand.

The Fortuner was stolen on 19th March
In this case, driver Joginder reported that on the afternoon of 19th March, he parked the car at the service center and went home to eat, but when he returned, the car was missing. According to the surveillance footage retrieved by the police, the Fortuner was last seen heading towards Gurugram.
It should be noted that vehicle theft incidents in the capital city, Delhi, are on the rise. A media report emerged that in the Delhi-NCR region, a vehicle theft occurs every 14 minutes. Similarly, ACKO recently released the second edition of 'Theft and the City 2024' based on vehicle theft incidents, which revealed a 2.5-fold increase in vehicle theft in India between 2022 and 2023.
