Stock Market Tumbles: 10 Stocks Inflict Hefty Losses, Vodafone Plummets

Sensex drops over 700 points while Nifty falls by 250 points at market close

Wednesday was a grim day for the Stock Market, with both Sensex and Nifty plummeting by the close of trading. BSE's Sensex fell over 700 points, while NSE's Nifty index slid about 250 points to close. Amidst the Stock Market Crash, 10 shares of large and mid-cap companies tumbled, leading to substantial losses for their investors.

Sensex dips by 790, Nifty by 247 points

The BSE Sensex initially opened at a slight uptick standing at 73,162.82, only to plummet by 790.34 points, a 1.08% fall, ending at 72,304.88. Speaking of NSE's Nifty, it started the day at 22,214.10 but fell to 21,951.15 by closing time, registering a 247.20 point or 1.11% drop.

Vodafone Idea stock crashes

During the trading session, large and mid-cap sectors caused substantial losses to their investors. Vodafone Idea’s stocks faced the sharpest decline, opening at 15.50 rupees only to end with a dramatic 13.88% drop at 13.65 rupees. Consequently, the company’s market capitalization shrank to 66,370 crore rupees.

These mid-cap stocks also sank investments

Other mid-cap companies that drenched investors’ money include Godrej Properties whose stock crashed from 2480.05 rupees to 2353 rupees at close, suffering a 5.62% decline. Next is Yes Bank, ending at 23.95 rupees with a 4.58% fall. Canara Bank dipped by 3.74% to 550.50 rupees, while billionaire Gautam Adani's company ACC (ACC Stock) ended 3.76% lower at 2569 rupees.

Large-cap shares suffer severe losses

Speaking of large-cap firms, from Wipro and IndusInd Bank to Maruti Suzuki, shares witnessed downturns. IndusInd Bank closed at 1446.05 rupees, dropping 3.15%, while Wipro's stock (Wipro Share) closed at 515.80 rupees, declining by 2.94%. Maruti Suzuki India saw its share price slip by 2.96%, finishing at 11,160 rupees.

Apollo Hospital’s share price takes a hit

In addition to these companies, others that experienced significant downturns or were labeled as Wednesday's biggest losers in the stock market include Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited closing at 6,370.80 rupees, a decrease of 249.80 rupees or 3.77%. Furthermore, automotive giant Eicher Motors Ltd's stock fell by 3.57% or 142.75 rupees, ending at 3,860.00 rupees.

All 10 companies of the Adani Group, from Adani Enterprises to Adani Energy, ended in the red on the BSE. Adani Enterprises’ stock (Adani Enterprises Share) declined by 2.53% to close at 3,218.90 rupees. Additionally, Adani Ports Share dipped by 2.52% to end at 1296 rupees.
