The OSINT team at Aaj Tak has analyzed Sentinel-1 satellite data to create high-resolution maps, accurately identifying flood-affected areas. With the onset of the monsoon, many regions across the country are engulfed by floods. States like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh (in the south and west) and Haryana (in the north) have witnessed severe rains and flooding in recent days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued new weather alerts on June 25 as the monsoon intensified countrywide. There are reports of heavy rains, lightning strikes, and strong winds from Gujarat to Haryana, Telangana, and Maharashtra. Several states have experienced sudden floods, landslides, and extensive waterlogging.
Gujarat, Telangana, and Maharashtra Underwater
An analysis of SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) data from the Sentinel-1 satellite by Aaj Tak's OSINT team shows large areas in Gujarat, Telangana, and Maharashtra are submerged. The western districts of Gujarat—Kutch, Morbi, Jamnagar, and Devbhoomi Dwarka—show clear evidence of flooding due to limited satellite coverage. Remote sensing data confirms moderate to severe flooding in these areas.

According to IMD reports, the eastern districts of Gujarat—Surat, Nandod, Dahod, Chhota Udaipur, Panchmahal, Valsad, and Tapi—are facing severe flood situations. The Tapi River and its tributaries have swelled due to heavy rainfall, flooding low-lying areas. Several villages are completely submerged, creating flood-like scenarios.
