At the India Today Group’s State of States Conclave 2020, SREI Infrastructure Finance Limited's Chairman, Hemant Kanoria, shared his thoughts on rebuilding India post-pandemic. He highlighted the profound impact that the global COVID crisis has had over the last 10 months, expressing that if a vaccine becomes available soon, it would provide significant relief.
Kanoria pointed out that the pandemic brought a wave of innovation to the market. Locals acclimated to working from home—a novel adjustment. Companies embraced concepts like working remotely from any location thanks to advanced technology, making this transition smoother.
He added that while humans are inherently social beings requiring interaction, the initial lockdown months halted this necessity. However, this pause paved the way for new approaches in living and working, and lifestyle shifts, introducing numerous positive changes.

Kanoria noted that people are now returning to seek employment. States face the challenge of reintegrating them. This moment is ripe for investing in opportunities, inviting private investors, and focusing on livelihoods, education, health, and employment. Each state must tailor these strategies to its resources.
He emphasized introspection and self-reliance, echoing the Prime Minister’s call toward self-sufficiency in businesses. Similarly, states must strive for economic self-sufficiency.
