The arrival of Starlink in India appears imminent. The company is partnering with Jio and Airtel to distribute its equipment, yet official permission for service initiation from the Indian government is still pending. Many are curious about the pricing.
Starlink offers various plans in the US and other countries. One can estimate the potential pricing for India by looking at the rates in neighboring Bhutan, where Starlink is operational.
In Bhutan, five different Starlink plans are available, and hardware purchase is additional. With the currency exchange rates almost at par, this gives us an indication of possible Indian pricing for Elon Musk's Starlink service.
In Bhutan, the standard Starlink kit costs 33,000 BTN, plus shipping. The high-performance kit is priced at 231,000 BTN along with shipping charges, while the mini Starlink kit costs 17,000 BTN plus shipping. It's likely that these hardware costs in India will be similar.
