The celebration of Eid al-Adha is in full swing across the nation. Jammu and Kashmir's Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, former CM Farooq Abdullah, and the head of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, extended their warm wishes for the occasion.
However, both Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti have raised questions to the Modi government regarding the denial of permission to offer prayers at Srinagar's Jama Masjid during Eid al-Adha.
What did Chief Minister Omar Abdullah say?
Speaking to the media, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah conveyed his Eid greetings to all. He expressed hope for better days for Jammu and Kashmir and for Muslims around the world, emphasizing a stronger commitment to peace and unity.
While we celebrate Eid, there is a sense of regret that today, the historic Jama Masjid in Srinagar was not allowed to host Eid prayers. I am unaware of the grounds on which such decisions are made. However, eventually, we will need to place trust in our people. These are the same people who voiced their displeasure against terrorist attacks after 22nd April, making it clear they are not in support of such violence.
What did PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti say?
Mehbooba Mufti prayed to God for the liberation of Israel from grievances. It is unfortunate that on this Eid, permission was not granted for prayers at the historic Jama Masjid in Srinagar.
Despite Jammu and Kashmir being a Muslim-majority state, Farooq Sahib is under house arrest. How then can they claim that all is well? It is completely wrong for people to witness this spectacle unfold.
