A devastating explosion claimed seven lives in the Dholahat area of South 24 Parganas, West Bengal. The blast occurred following a cylinder explosion, which ignited stored firecrackers, demolishing the house entirely.

Firecrackers Ignited by Cylinder Blast

According to initial information, the explosion occurred in the home of the Banik family in the Dholahat area of Sundarbans. This family had been engaged in firecracker manufacturing for several years. A total of 11 family members lived in the house, out of which four are still missing. The explosion set the stored firecrackers ablaze resulting in a massive detonation. The blast was so powerful that the entire house collapsed, causing chaos in the surrounding area.

Tragically, seven people died instantly in this horrific incident, and there are concerns that several others might be injured. Among the deceased are three children. Upon receiving the news, police and firebrigade teams promptly reached the scene to start relief operations.

Police Arrive at the Scene

On Tuesday morning, West Bengal police arrived at the Dholahat area where the explosion had occurred the previous night. A video posted on X by news agency ANI shows police officers standing outside the damaged house. A gas cylinder is seen tossed near a pond, while the house's windows were blown out during the explosion.
