The Haryana government has taken legal action in response to former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's allegations of 'poison' being mixed in the Yamuna waters. The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court in Sonipat has also issued a notice to Kejriwal, demanding his presence on February 17. They have filed a petition against this statement, seeking action against him for his claim, which was made without evidence, alleging that engineers from the Delhi Jal Board identified poison in the water.

If Kejriwal fails to appear in court for the next hearing, it will be assumed that he has nothing to say regarding this case, and further proceedings will be conducted as per the law. The former CM had alleged that the BJP government in Haryana contaminated the water sent to Delhi with poison. Fortunately, engineers from the water board identified it and halted the supply at the border.

'Massacre avoided if water had reached Delhi', claimed Kejriwal

Kejriwal claimed in his statement that if the tainted water had reached Delhi and been consumed by residents, countless lives could have been lost. He mentioned that such an incident could have led to a major disaster within the city. He further stated that the water sent by the BJP government to Delhi could not even be purified at the treatment plant, leading to a potential catastrophe.

Controversy sparked by Arvind Kejriwal's statement

Following Kejriwal’s claims, a verbal battle ensued between the governments of Delhi and Haryana, with CM Atishi and Haryana CM Naib Saini being caught up in the dispute. CM Atishi claimed that the Yamuna water near Palla Ghat is exceedingly filthy, challenging the opposition to inspect the location, asserting that the water there contains the highest concentration of ammonia. However, CM Saini retaliated, claiming that it's the Aam Aadmi Party leaders who harbor malice in their hearts.

Subsequently, Haryana CM Naib Singh Saini visited Palla village alone to take stock of the Yamuna water, during which he drank from the river. He sought to demonstrate that the Yamuna water is clean and fit for consumption.
