Simple One Gen 2 Electric Scooter:
India's leading electric two-wheeler brand, Simple Energy, has significantly upgraded its vehicle lineup today. Kicking off the new year, the company has launched the Gen 2 version of its popular Simple One electric scooter. This new model is an enhanced, performance-focused version based on Gen 1.5. Additionally, the new flagship model, Simple Ultra, has also been introduced.
The company has made essential improvements in design, ride quality, battery, performance, and software for Simple One Gen 2, providing users with a more reliable and advanced experience. This new electric scooter is introduced at an initial price of INR 1.40 lakh, which will rise to INR 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom) once the introductory offer concludes.
Simple Energy states that the Simple One Gen 2's design has been made sleeker and more streamlined. Structural joints have been reinforced to make the ride sharper and well-controlled. Crash zones around the battery are strengthened, enhancing safety. A new tire compound offers better stability at high speeds. The suspension has been retuned, and the seat height reduced by 16 mm. The seat foam is now sportier and firmer, providing better support for long rides.

The top variant of Simple One Gen 2 comes with a new 5kWh battery, which is lighter, more energy-dense, and efficient. The battery's weight has reduced from 34 kg to 30 kg. The electric motor delivers a peak power of 8.8kW and a peak torque of 72Nm. The company claims this scooter offers a 265 km IDC range on a single charge.
There is also a version with a 4.5kWh battery, offering a range of 236 km per charge. Both variants accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in just 2.55 seconds, with a top speed now reaching 115 km/h.
The Simple OneS variant features a smaller 3.7kWh battery, providing a 190 km IDC range. It houses a less powerful motor, generating 6.4kW of power and 52Nm of torque, ideal for those seeking an economical electric scooter for everyday use.
Variants and Pricing of the Scooter
The company has also showcased the Simple One Ultra variant. It includes a sizable 6.5kWh battery, claiming a 400 km IDC range on a single charge. This variant accelerates from 0 to 40 km/h in just 2.77 seconds. The pricing is yet to be announced and will be disclosed in the future.

Accompanying Gen 2, several software updates have been integrated into SimpleOS. Two new riding modes, EcoX and SonicX, enhance the scooter's ride quality. EcoX optimizes range by analyzing rider throttle input, speed patterns, and surroundings, whereas SonicX unlocks the scooter's full top speed of 115 km/h.
The scooter includes four traction modes and four levels of regenerative braking. Additionally, two levels of cruise control, hill hold assist, a vehicle fall cutoff feature, and emergency brake lights activating during hard braking are available.
The 5kWh battery variant features a 7-inch touchscreen TFT display, while the Simple OneS has a 7-inch non-touch TFT screen. The display offers both dark mode and light mode options. All variants come with a 35-liter boot space, a front glove box, and a USB charging port.
This scooter is available in three colors: Sonic Red, Arrow X, and Asphalt X. Notably, the company offers a lifetime warranty on all Gen 2 scooters, alleviating a major customer concern regarding electric scooter battery life.
