The streets of Mohammadabad Yusufpur town in the Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh were eerily silent on Friday. This town is the ancestral home of Mukhtar Ansari, a gangster-turned-politician, who succumbed to a heart attack on Thursday night. He had been confined in Banda jail, and after a sudden decline in his health, he was rushed to the hospital on Thursday night where he passed away during treatment.
Mukhtar Ansari's remains will be brought to his hometown for the last rites. Considering the sensitive nature of the situation, a substantial number of security personnel has been deployed in the area to maintain law and order. The locals were awaiting the arrival of the statesman's body, who had served as a five-time legislator.
A Grave Dug in Kali Baug Cemetery
A grave has been prepared in the Ansari family's cemetery in Kali Baug for Mukhtar Ansari's burial, situated beside his father's resting place. This information was provided by Circle Officer Atar Singh and Inspector Pawan Kumar Upadhyay from the Mohammadabad police station, who informed that the family has decided to conduct the funeral on Saturday morning.

Postmortem of Mukhtar Done in Banda
In fact, the postmortem was conducted nearly 400 kilometers away in Banda. The convoy carrying his mortal remains will pass through Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, and Varanasi districts before reaching Ghazipur. Ansari's lawyer, Naseem Haider, expressed hopes that the body would reach Ghazipur by late at night, thus planning the funeral for the following day, Saturday.
Son Accuses Planned Murder
Mukhtar Ansari's son, Umar, has penned a letter to the District Magistrate of Banda, accusing them of a premeditated murder of his father. He has demanded that the postmortem be conducted at AIIMS, New Delhi. 'We have no faith in the administration and doctors of Banda,' Umar stated in his letter.
Mukhtar's political adversaries voice their sharp responses to his demise, invoking karmic retribution with phrases like 'As you sow, so shall you reap' and 'Justice has been served'.
'Delayed but not dark' - Nephew of Slain BJP MLA Krishna Nand Rai
BJP MLA from Mohammadabad, Krishna Nand Rai was murdered in 2005. His nephew Anand Rai stated that this is divine justice, recalling the phrase 'Justice is delayed, but not denied'. In the case of Krishna Nand Rai's murder, Ansari and his family members were accused, but were later acquitted as witnesses retracted their statements under Ansari's influence.
Section 144 Imposed in Several Places, Tight Security Arrangements
An official reported that security forces in Mau have been put on alert. Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC have been issued in the districts of Mau, Ghazipur, Ballia, and nearby regions. According to reports from Bhadohi, security has been stepped up along the National Highway since Ansari's body will be transported through this route.
