Exposed: Noida's Phantom Call Center Swindles American Citizens
Noida's police have unveiled a sham call center's plot where employees conned unsuspecting Americans. Masquerading as reputable antivirus vendors, these workers cold-called foreigners, feigning offers for Norton and McAfee antivirus solutions tailored to solve computer issues. A sweep by the authorities has resulted in twelve apprehensions.
Officials commenced the raid based on intricate surveillance and confidential tips, targeting a dubious business operation nestled on the second floor of a building in Sector 2, C Block. During the explosive raid, a dozen culprits were handcuffed and hauled off, and the officers seized 14 desktops among other illicit assets.
The arrested individuals lured foreign nationals with false promises of antivirus software capable of safeguarding laptops and computers, peddling these phony solutions for anything from 100 to 500 U.S. dollars. Payment links were deceitfully emailed to the victims to initialize the fraudulent transactions.
The identities of the detained are Pradeep Kumar Pradhan, Aviral Gautam, Rishabh Shukla, Ali Hasan, Anurag Tomar, Harendra Chaudhary, Raju, Sandeep Kumar, Deepak Sharma, Saurabh Singh, Saket Priyadarshi, and Shivam Kumar.
Some arrested are from Delhi while others reside in Ghaziabad, Noida, and Greater Noida. Currently, they face charges under the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act for deception and criminal conspiracy, as legal proceedings march on.
