A case of love jihad emerged from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. A young woman accused a businessman from Ahmedabad of marrying her while pretending to be Hindu, then pressuring her to convert. She also alleged domestic violence and mistreatment by her in-laws. The police state they haven't received any formal complaints yet.

According to reports, Raveena from Kushinagar's Ahirauli Bazar accepted a Facebook friend request from someone named Basant. As their acquaintance deepened, so did their affection, leading to matrimony in a temple followed by a move to Basant's home in Ahmedabad.

Husband's family insists on conversion to Islam

Merely two days after their temple wedding, Basant's first wife arrived, attacking Raveena. That's when Raveena discovered Basant's real name was Wasim and he had three children from a previous marriage. Amid this lie, Wasim's family agreed to accept her but demanded she convert to Islam.

Deceit during court marriage

Raveena shared that they had a court marriage after their temple wedding. Wasim had cleverly altered names on official documents without raising suspicion, especially because the marriage was against their families' wishes. Only Raveena's elder sister and brother-in-law were present during the court marriage, and even then, her name was changed from Raveena to Rabina Bano.

Pressured for religious conversion

Raveena states that initially, everything seemed fine. However, Wasim and his family's attitudes soon turned hostile, resulting in physical abuse. They insisted she convert to Islam, but Raveena firmly refused, instead appealing directly to the Chief Minister's Janta Darbar for help.

Previously jailed for 9 months in a Love Jihad case

Wasim served nine months in jail in a Love Jihad case. Upon release, he conned Raveena with promises of buying a flat in her name, which turned out to be a ruse. He ultimately registered the flat in his name, though the utilities remained in hers. Raveena currently resides in that apartment.

Wasim and accomplices loot home

Recently, in Raveena's absence, Wasim and his associates looted all her belongings and absconded. Despite reporting the incident, Raveena has yet to see any action from the authorities. Now she is being pressured to drop her case and receives threats against her life. Without justice, Raveena confesses she sees no other option but to take her own life.

Police's statement on the matter

Regarding the case, the SHO Guleria stated they have not received any official complaints. Upon receipt, they will investigate and proceed accordingly.
