Thursday, March 28th, about 10 PM
A peaceful family journey on the Ranchi-Tata Highway, about 17 kilometers from Jamshedpur, turns tragic when hitmen ambush the family's car, shooting 39-year-old Jyoti Agarwal. Struck by bullets in the night's darkness, the family is overwhelmed with fear. However, Jyoti's husband, Ravi Agarwal, raced to Tata Main Hospital in a desperate bid to save her, only to find it was too late.
Why was Jyoti killed?
The question emerged: why and who would kill Jyoti? Could it have been a mistaken identity? According to Jyoti's husband, Ravi, criminals demanding protection money were behind the murder. Ravi, a plywood businessman, had previously reported extortion attempts to the police. The incident occurred as they were returning from dinner at a restaurant. As soon as Ravi stopped the car due to Jyoti feeling unwell, the killers fired.

Ravi Agarwal narrates the event
Ravi disclosed that criminals asked for 25 million rupees in extortion money, which he did not pay. A letter left in his shop demanded the sum. After the incident, he shared that two youngsters approached the car, demanded money, and then shot Jyoti. Ravi was puzzled by their quick departure after firing.
Ravi had previously attempted to kill his wife
Ravi shared this narrative with the police after his wife's murder. However, Jyoti's parents complained not about the extortionists but about Ravi himself. They disclosed that Ravi had previously tried to strangle Jyoti in Gangtok, casting a shadow on their relationship.

Not extortion, but a deep-rooted conspiracy
With this information, the police were suspicious and further investigation revealed that this wasn't an extortion but a conspiracy by Ravi, who paid hitmen 16 million rupees to kill his wife. He took her outside the city, stopped the car, and had the hitmen shoot her.
Ravi Agarwal and three others arrested
Ultimately, the police arrested Ravi, his driver Mukesh Mishra, and two shooters for Jyoti's murder. It was Ravi's second attempt on his wife's life, with the first done personally and the second by hired killers. This chilling murder has left the city in disbelief as the investigation continues.
