Shehzadi Khan, an Indian woman facing a death sentence for the alleged murder of an infant in Abu Dhabi, was executed on February 15. The Ministry of External Affairs informed the Delhi High Court that Shehzadi Khan, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was executed in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on February 15. ASG Chetan Sharma stated that authorities are providing every possible assistance and the burial will take place on March 5.

The Ministry of External Affairs updated the Delhi High Court, stating that the Indian Embassy in the UAE received an official message from the UAE government on February 28, 2025, confirming the execution of Shehzadi as per UAE laws and regulations on February 15, 2025.

The Father Petitioned for Information

Justice Sachin Datta described the incident as 'extremely unfortunate.' Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma stated in court, 'The case has now concluded. Shehzadi was executed on February 15. Her burial is set for March 5.'

Shehzadi's 33-year-old father, Shabbir Khan, a resident of Banda district in Uttar Pradesh, filed a petition seeking information about his daughter's status. He expressed his frustration at not receiving clear information despite repeated attempts to contact the Ministry of External Affairs.

Last Call from Jail

Shehzadi was handed over to the Abu Dhabi Police on February 10, 2023, and was sentenced to death on July 31, 2023. She was incarcerated at Al Wathba prison. During the hearing, the petitioner's lawyer revealed that on February 14, Shehzadi called her family saying, 'I might be executed in a day or two, this might be my last call.' The family hasn't heard from her since.

The Case Details

Shehzadi Khan was on trial for the death of a four-month-old child under her care. In December 2022, while working as a caregiver in Abu Dhabi, the routine vaccination led to the child's death, for which Shehzadi was blamed. The government informed the court that the Ministry of External Affairs received updated information on February 28.
