In America, numerous airlines have canceled or delayed thousands of flights due to severe winter storm warnings across large parts of the country. This season is peak travel time within the country as many take vacations during the winter period. Airlines have canceled over 1,800 flights, with thousands more experiencing delays.
The hazardous weather has extended from the Great Lakes to the Northeast, creating disruptions at major airports.
According to flight-tracking website FlightAware, airlines across America canceled or delayed thousands of flights on Friday. By 4:04 PM ET, a total of 1,802 flights had been canceled and 22,349 delayed.
'Snowfall Prediction...'
The National Weather Service issued an alert for Winter Storm Devin, warning of dangerous travel conditions stretching from the Great Lakes to the Northern Mid-Atlantic and Southern New England until Saturday morning.
The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center reported on its official website, "From Upstate New York to New York City and Long Island, including the tri-state area, there is an estimated 4 to 8 inches of snow expected late Friday night."
According to Reuters, potential impact areas like John F. Kennedy Airport, LaGuardia Airport, and Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport have also taken to social media to warn passengers of possible delays or cancellations.

JetBlue Airways has canceled 225 flights, the highest among all airlines, followed by Delta Airlines DAL.N with 186, Republic Airways with 155, American Airlines with 96, and United Airlines with 82 cancellations.
The northeast was under a winter storm warning on Friday, as a powerful snowstorm headed towards the East Coast, foreseeing dangerous travel and widespread disruptions.

The Weather Department has issued heavy snowfall warnings for parts of Southern Connecticut, Northeastern New Jersey, parts of Pennsylvania, and Southeastern New York, where up to 9 inches of snow could accumulate. This alert will remain effective from 4 PM Friday to 1 PM Saturday EST.

In the West, heavy snowfall is also expected. In Mono County, California, the Weather Department indicated that areas above 8,000 feet could receive 1 to 3 feet of snow, with 4 to 12 inches expected below that elevation and along US-395.
According to a forecast by the American Automobile Association reported by Bloomberg, from December 20 to January 1, Americans were expected to travel in record numbers beyond 50 miles from home, an increase of about 2% over last year.
