In the wake of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir police, along with the army, CRPF, and other security forces, have initiated a comprehensive search and cordon operation in sensitive areas. With heightened vigilance, these operations are being conducted day and night. Various raids have been conducted in different locations in the Anantnag district. Approximately 175 suspects have been detained for questioning to dismantle networks aiding terrorist activities.

Anantnag police stated that they are conducting cordon and search operations with partner security forces to eliminate any potential terrorist presence and secure the district. Anantnag police are committed to maintaining peace in the district and thwarting any attempts to disrupt normalcy.

To enhance security, monitor suspicious activities, and ensure public safety, additional Mobile Vehicle Check Posts (MVCPs) have been established in sensitive districts. Cooperation from the public is requested, and citizens are advised to report any suspicious activities to their nearest police station.

It is noteworthy that on April 22, terrorists opened fire on tourists at the Baisaran Meadow in Pahalgam, resulting in the tragic death of 26 people. The deceased included 25 Indian and 1 Nepali citizen, while many others were wounded. Following this attack, security forces have increased vigilance. Police have intensified patrolling and ambush operations, especially in dense forest areas where terrorists might attempt to hide.

In the meantime, security forces have been placed on high alert in the Rajouri region. Intense vehicle checks are being conducted on the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch highway, and a significant number of security forces have been deployed to prevent any untoward incidents. Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited Srinagar on Friday to review the security situation. He was briefed about the actions against active terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir and the Pakistani Army's attempts to breach the ceasefire along the Line of Control.
