A new version of the 'Special Representatives Dialogue' has begun between Ajit Doval and Wang Yi. During this, Doval stated that India-China relations are experiencing 'new energy and momentum.' Doval expressed that the Prime Minister's visit to China is exceedingly significant, which is why today's conversation holds special importance. He is optimistic that the 24th Special Representatives (SR) dialogue will be successful. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Delhi on Monday, specially for the SR talks in India. It is believed this trip is part of efforts to rebuild relations between both countries, which were significantly strained following the 2020 Galwan Valley clash.
What Did Chinese Foreign Minister Say About PM Modi's Visit?
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated regarding PM Modi's visit, "The Chinese side attaches great importance to the Prime Minister's visit to participate in the SCO Summit upon our invitation. We believe that the Indian side will also contribute to a successful Summit in Tianjin. History and reality once again prove that healthy and stable China-India relations fulfill the fundamental and long-term interests of our two countries. This is what all developing countries want to see."
Special Representatives Meeting for Border De-Escalation
During the SR dialogue, both sides discussed new confidence-building measures and reviewed the status along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Although the process of withdrawing troops from disputed locations is complete, de-escalation by pulling back troops from forward posts at the border remains pending. Currently, approximately 50,000 to 60,000 soldiers from both sides are stationed in Eastern Ladakh.
