Delhi's police force has a new leader. Satish Golcha has been appointed as the new Police Commissioner of Delhi. He takes over from Shashi Bhushan Kumar Singh (SBK Singh), who was acting as interim police commissioner. According to the order by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Satish Golcha, a senior IPS officer, will now serve as Delhi's Police Commissioner. He previously held the position of DG (Prisons) in Delhi. His appointment will take effect immediately upon assuming charge and will continue until further orders. Satish Golcha belongs to the 1992 batch of IPS officers.

IPS officer Satish Golcha replaces SBK Singh, who was appointed as the acting police commissioner by the Ministry of Home Affairs on August 1. Prior to this, Golcha has served in various capacities within Delhi police, including positions as DCP, Joint Commissioner, and Special Commissioner. He played a crucial role during the 2020 North-East Delhi violence as the Special Commissioner (Law and Order). Reports state that he served as Director General of Police (DGP) of Arunachal Pradesh from February 2022 to June 2023, after which he returned to Delhi.
Change Occurs After Attack on CM Rekha Gupta
This appointment comes in the wake of an attack on Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at her Civil Lines residence during a weekly public hearing on Wednesday morning. The assailant, masquerading as a complainant, attacked her but was quickly subdued by security personnel. The attacker has been identified as Rajesh Bhai Khimji Bhai Sakaria (41) from Rajkot, Gujarat. He faces charges including attempted murder under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
