Leader of the Aam Aadmi Party and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has been released from Tihar Jail, granted conditional bail after six months in the liquor scandal case. Post-release, he engaged in an exclusive conversation with Aaj Tak. Singh declared not a time for celebration, but for combat, with every party worker poised for struggle. Our leading figures – Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Satyendra Jain – remain incarcerated. United in our fight, we shall overthrow the oppressive regime. He believed the prison locks will break, freeing our comrades.
When queried if he will assume a crucial role in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Singh responded that while he just regained freedom, he will undertake any duty decided by the Aam Aadmi Party, serving the party with unwavering dedication.
He rallied workers to be ready for the fight, stemming from a movement-driven party ethos. He warned any ruling powers or the Bharatiya Janata Party harboring any illusions to discard them, as their supporters will neither kneel nor pause in their tracks.
Addressing the gaps felt during imprisonment, Singh affirmed a monumental void with Arvind Kejriwal behind bars, a gap to be bridged by fourfold increased efforts from every worker to propagate Kejriwal's vision and policies. It is time, he claims, to disband the authoritarian government.
Galvanizing activists at party headquarters
Upon reaching AAP's headquarters, Singh addressed the party workers, lambasting BJP. Questioning the arrests of prominent leaders and their ‘crimes’ of wanting to provide good education and free water, he accused the BJP of aiming to bring down the ‘best government’ led by Kejriwal. The BJP's agenda, Singh says, is against the provision of water and education, not merely Kejriwal's resignation.
He challenged PM Modi, standing firmly with activists supporting Kejriwal. BJP seeks Kejriwal's resignation, yet for over a year, with turmoil in Manipur, no such demands were made, he states. Singh expressed gratitude towards Congressman and advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi for representing him in court and mentioned the emotional toll on Kejriwal's family, vowing that the divine will avenge these tears.
