The Sambhal region in UP has become a topic of intrigue recently. The ancient Kartikeya Mahadev temple in Khaggu Sarai opened its doors after 46 years, leading to a festive gathering on Saturday. Devotees flocking to the temple were thrilled to participate in the rituals and tasted the divine offerings from the feast. Organizers expressed joy, stating that this was the first feast since the temple's reopening to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Unlocked on December 14

On December 14, in the locality of Khaggu Sarai amidst a predominantly Muslim population, the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police unsealed the ancient Kartikeya Mahadev temple. Since then, pilgrims from Sambhal and neighboring areas have been visiting the temple in large numbers.

Feast Celebration

The temple had remained closed since riots in 1978. Nearly 46 years later, its gates have reopened. Devotees enthusiastically organized a feast on Saturday. Dishes like vegetable curry, poori, and halwa were prepared as offerings. These were first offered to the deity inside the temple.

Investigation at Kalki Temple

Meanwhile, a team from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) visited the Kalki Temple on Saturday for a survey. Prior to this, the ASI had conducted surveys at five different locations in Sambhal, including 19 wells and 5 shrines.

Following the opening of the 46-year-old temple in Sambhal on December 14, the District Magistrate wrote to the ASI, prompting a four-member ASI team to conduct an inspection. To ensure the team's safety, barricades were placed around the nearby well. The ASI team arrived amidst ongoing prayers at the temple.
