Sambhal Violence Update:
Sambhal's SP MP Ziaur Rahman Birk has filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court requesting a halt on his arrest. He also demands the dismissal of the FIR lodged against him. The police had registered a case against MP Birk in relation to the Sambhal violence, asserting that his inflammatory speech prompted the violence during the survey at Shahi Jama Masjid.
In his petition to the High Court, MP Birk referenced his position as a parliamentarian, asserting he is a literate individual. He argued that he has no association with the violence in question and therefore, the FIR against him should be annulled.
Sambhal Police Gathering Evidence Against Birk
In fact, the Sambhal police are continuously collecting evidence against MP Birk. They alleged that his provocative speeches triggered the violence. However, the MP insists he was in Bengaluru at the time of the incidents in UP, claiming the FIR is a result of a political conspiracy. Sources indicate that Sambhal police could arrest him at any time, prompting his plea for relief from the High Court.
