External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is currently on a visit to China. He arrived directly from Singapore. Here, he met with China's Vice President Han Zheng in Beijing.
Sharing the photo of his meeting with the Vice President, Jaishankar expressed joy at meeting Han Zheng upon arriving in Beijing. He indicated India's support for China's chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. There has been an improvement in bilateral relations between the two nations. He hopes the discussions during this trip remain positive.
During the meeting, Jaishankar noted that since the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping last October in Kazan, relations between the two countries have improved. He is confident that discussions on this tour will continue this positivity.
He also mentioned that the diplomatic relations between India and China have reached the 75-year mark. The resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra has been highly appreciated in India. Normalization of relations between the two countries will be beneficial.
Jaishankar stated that the international situation has become very complex today as we converse. As neighboring countries and leading economies, the mutual exchange of views between India and China will be very significant.
Previously, Jaishankar was in Singapore, where he participated in the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable Summit. Notably, this is his first visit to China since the violent clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in Galwan Valley in 2020. He will attend the SCO foreign ministers' meeting in Tianjin on Tuesday. During this, discussions on reducing tensions along the LAC, maintaining peace on the border, and issues related to trade and investment will be held.
