The suicide case of senior Haryana IPS officer, Y Puran Kumar, has become a nationwide topic of discussion. Amidst all this, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sandeep Kumar of the Haryana Police ended his life. Posted in the Cyber Cell of Rohtak, the ASI shot himself.
At the crime scene, police found a three-page suicide note and a video message. In the video recorded just before his suicide, ASI made sensational allegations of bribery, extortion, and sexual harassment by Y Puran Kumar and his associates.
These accusations have redirected the ongoing investigation into Y Puran Kumar's suicide from last week.
In the video, Sandeep Kumar directly labeled Y Puran Kumar as a highly corrupt officer. He accused Kumar of negotiating a deal worth 5 billion rupees to release a person named Rao Inderjit from a case. Moreover, he claimed massive bribes were taken in a murder case.
Allegations of Sexual Exploitation of Female Officers
Sandeep alleged in the video that Y Puran Kumar manipulated the system in his favor using caste-based politics, removing honest officials and replacing them with his corrupt gang. This group of corrupt police would find minor clerical errors in official files to call officers, torment them, and extort money.
Sandeep also claimed that these associates of Y Puran Kumar were involved in sexually harassing female police officers and threatening them with transfers.
ASI Recounts His Experience
Recounting his experience, Sandeep said he faced Y Puran Kumar when corruption charges were filed against him. He claimed Kumar admitted to illegally collecting money and hiding it in his car's dashboard. Sandeep described the IPS officer as being extremely arrogant, believing he could escape quickly.
Sandeep stated that Y Poonam Kumar committed suicide when he realized that the investigation might expose his family's involvement. In the video, ASI Kumar expressed that when Kumar understood the impending disgrace for his family, he took his life to protect them. He demanded an investigation into the properties of Puran Kumar's IAS wife and father.
Serious Allegations in the Suicide Note
It’s notable that these allegations emerged as investigation agencies are probing an eight-page suicide note by Y Puran Kumar, in which he accused his superiors, including DGP Shatrughit Kapoor, of caste discrimination and professional harassment. Following the IPS officer's note, police registered cases against all officials mentioned. Subsequently, Haryana DGP Shatrughit Kapoor was placed on prolonged leave.
