The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), a member of the India Block, has announced its first list of six candidates for the Jharkhand Assembly Elections. From Chatra, Rashmi Prakash, daughter-in-law of Satyanand Bhokta, has been chosen as the candidate. Bhokta is RJD's sole MLA in Jharkhand and currently serves as the Labor Resource Minister in the Hemant Soren-led government.
Subhash Yadav has been given a ticket from Koderma by RJD. Known as a close ally of RJD Supremo Lalu Yadav, he was arrested by the ED a few days back on charges related to illegal mining. Previously, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav announced that Hemant Soren would once again become Jharkhand's Chief Minister. He confirmed that parties in the India Block have reached a consensus on seat allocations for Jharkhand Assembly polls. His remarks came immediately after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed that Tejashwi holds 'no brand value' within the India Block, despite having visited CM Soren's residence three times whilst still not securing enough seats for RJD in the upcoming assembly elections.
Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, co-incharge for BJP in Jharkhand elections, alongside Central Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, appointed as the state election incharge by the saffron party. In response to Himanta's jibe, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav stated, 'India Block stands united and we will contest the elections together. Hemant Soren will be CM again. The seat allocation agreement has been reached and RJD's seat allocation is to be announced shortly.'
