Rishabh Pant:

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is kicking off on March 22nd, with star cricketer Rishabh Pant ready to return to action. He has been declared fit in a recent medical report by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Pant will be representing the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL.

Despite initial predictions that Pant would require nearly two years to recover, and that he might miss IPL 2024, he made a complete recovery in just 14 months. The remarkable story of how Rishabh Pant achieved fitness ahead of time was shared by a doctor at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Pant had been away from cricketing action following a severe road accident near Roorkee, Uttarakhand, on December 30, 2022.

The NCA's physiotherapist Tulsi Yuvraj told the BCCI, 'With mental fortitude and confidence, Rishabh Pant inspired us to give our hundred percent during his rehab. The doctors thought it would take him two years, but he recovered rapidly once he came to the NCA.'

How This Sport Helped Pant

NCA's strength and conditioning coach Nishanta Bordoloi remarked that Pant's childhood experience as a gymnast aided in his recovery. He noted, 'Rishabh's gymnastic background was a significant advantage in many aspects, especially when it seemed he couldn't go on, he managed to get back on his feet. Rehab can be monotonous with repetitive exercises, but persistence is the only option. The more you persist, the quicker the recovery.'

Pant's Impressive Record

Rishabh Pant expressed, 'I'm thrilled to return to the field. My love for cricket has grown immensely. It's been a passion, but now it's boundless.' Pant has played 98 IPL matches to date, scoring 2838 runs. In 33 test matches, he's scored 2271 runs; in 30 ODIs, he's accumulated 865 runs. Pant has made 987 runs in 66 T20 internationals.
