The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has played a significant move ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. The party announced the Women's Dignity Scheme, granting women Rs 2100 per month, while offering free treatment in government and private hospitals for seniors above 60. Registration for this ambitious scheme begins Monday, as declared by AAP's National Convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday. From Monday, resident women and elders in Delhi will be able to register for this scheme.
Leaders Will Visit Every Home
Alongside former Chief Minister Kejriwal, current Chief Minister Atishi, and several ministers, senior AAP leaders will hit the streets, personally visiting homes across Delhi for registrations. Announcing this, Kejriwal emphasized that neither women nor seniors need to queue; the AAP team will reach every locality to register them and provide a smart card-like guarantee card.
This is seen as part of AAP's door-to-door campaign, as party workers will visit each home where women and seniors will register.
Keep Voter Cards Handy
Kejriwal advised women and seniors to keep their voter cards handy during registration. He addressed allegations regarding mass voter name removals in Delhi, assuring that AAP will reinstate them if they reside in the area with a valid voter card.
The door-to-door operation will allow AAP to gauge how many are present in each area and ensure their names remain on the voter list. AAP aims to connect personally and emotionally with every household.
Benefits for 35 to 40 Lakh Women
Kejriwal claims that the Women's Dignity Scheme will benefit 35 to 40 lakh women, while around 10-15 lakh seniors will gain from the Sanjeevani Scheme. While the success of this outreach strategy is uncertain until the Assembly election results, Kejriwal is charging forward with aggressive electoral preparations and criticism of opponents.
Thanks to Lt. Governor VK Saxena
On Sunday, Delhi's Lt. Governor VK Saxena surveyed some areas, raising questions about governance under Kejriwal's administration. Responding to governance critiques, Kejriwal thanked the Governor for highlighting issues, promising to resolve them. Kejriwal noted that areas with poor roads recently visited by the Governor now have improvements underway, with Chief Minister Atishi soon to inaugurate them.
Kejriwal also raised the issue of Delhi’s tableau exclusion from this Republic Day, pointing fingers at the BJP-led central government.
