In Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur, a parent has accused an NCERT environmental book of promoting 'Love Jihad' and has filed a written complaint with the Chhatarpur police, demanding action. This complaint was registered by Dr. Raghav Pathak. Pathak claims that he has issues with page 17 of the class 3 NCERT environmental book. The page contains a chapter titled 'A Letter Has Arrived', where a girl named Reena invites Ahmed to Agartala for the holidays, ending her letter with 'Yours, Reena.'
Dr. Raghav Pathak submitted a written complaint to Khajuraho SDOP, expressing his objections. Pathak stated, 'The NCERT's environmental book for class 3 is something I regularly check for my children's syllabus as my daughter is in the third grade Hindi medium. There is a chapter titled 'A Letter Has Arrived' where Reena, a Hindu girl, writes a letter to her Muslim friend Ahmed.'

'Hindu Girl Writes to Muslim Friend'
'I object to this chapter. Given the current discussions around 'Love Jihad,' I'm concerned about the influence such content might have on our innocent children. I suspect this curriculum might be part of a calculated move, where a Hindu girl writes a letter to a Muslim friend. I object to this, which is why I am presenting this memorandum. While Reena can write to Deepti, or to Ram, I object to her writing to Ahmed. This needs to be investigated thoroughly,' Pathak mentioned in his application to the SDOP.
SDPO Comments on the Case
Salil Sharma, SDPO of Khajuraho, stated that an application has been submitted by Raghav Pathak. Pathak noted some content in the NCERT book that he finds objectionable. He has been advised to raise this issue with the appropriate forum as the state government or local bodies have no involvement in this matter. The applicant has now been referred to higher authorities.
