The aftermath of a hit-and-run: How a sports car Porsche turned fatal for two engineers.
It should be noted that this hit-and-run incident took place on the morning of May 19. In Pune's Kalyani Nagar, a real estate developer Vishal Agarwal's 17-year-old son, behind the wheels of his Porsche sports car, ran over two engineers riding a bike, causing both their deaths. 15 hours after the incident, the underage accused was granted bail by the court with the conditions of working alongside traffic police for 15 days and writing an essay on the impact and resolution of road accidents in 300 words. However, the police investigation revealed that the accused was intoxicated and was driving the car at a high speed.
The police urge the court to proceed with the case as if dealing with an adult.
In light of this case, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has stated that the underage accused should be tried as an adult. For this, permission has been sought from the higher court. This statement came amidst the public's grievance over granting bail to the minor accused. He has been charged under IPC sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 304A (causing death by negligence), and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.
