Pune Porsche Crash Culprit's Father Nabbed

In a dramatic conclusion to the high-speed chase in Pune, the father of the underage boy responsible for a deadly Porsche accident has been apprehended outside Aurangabad. In the run-up to his capture, Vishal Agrawal went to great lengths to evade authorities. His meticulously laid plans began taking shape shortly after an FIR was filed against him. Ultimately, however, police utilized CCTV footage, GPS data, and intel from relatives to put an end to the chase.

Vishal Agrawal fled Pune following the registration of the FIR against him. In a bid to confuse the authorities, he deployed a fleet of three cars from his home. Vishal himself drove one, while drivers operated the remaining two, heading in separate directions towards Mumbai, Goa, and Kolhapur. Shortly after, he switched off his phone and later reconnected with his family using a different number.

Vishal switched cars en route, taking a friend's vehicle and heading towards Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. He even stopped at his farmhouse along the way, keeping his family updated about his whereabouts intermittently. On Monday night, he and his driver checked into a lodge in Sambhajinagar. All the while, the Crime Branch was on his tail, tracing his location via GPS. CCTV captured his image, confirming his identity.

Between Monday and Tuesday night, Vishal Agrawal was arrested from the lodge where he was hiding. He will be presented in Pune's District Court. Prior to his arrest on Monday, the police sought high court permission to try the underage suspect as an adult. The lower court had previously rejected this appeal. The police assert that multiple teams are investigating the incident.

Minor Charges Porsche, Fatally Hits Two Engineers

The tragic hit-and-run occurred on the morning of May 19th. In Pune's Kalyani Nagar, the 17-year-old son of real estate developer Vishal Agrawal ran his sports car, a Porsche, over two motorcycle-riding engineers, resulting in their deaths. 14 hours following the mishap, the juvenile was granted bail under certain conditions. The court ordered him to work with the traffic police for 15 days and write a 300-word essay on the effects and resolution of road accidents. It later emerged in a police investigation that the accused was intoxicated and driving at high speeds.

Demand for Adult Trial in Underage DUI Case

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar voiced that the case against the juvenile should proceed as if dealing with an adult. The police have appealed to higher courts for authorization. Kumar’s statement followed widespread discontent over the bail granted to the juvenile. He insisted that the case against the suspect includes non-intentional homicide, accidental death, and violations under the Motor Vehicles Act.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Orders Strict Action

Maharashtra's Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis have directed the police to take stringent measures in the case. When asked if the police faced any pressure, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar denied such claims, asserting that the police have always acted in accordance with the law. "We are ready to discuss all legal steps taken by the police. We have taken actions as rigorous as possible," he commented.

The families of the deceased engineers are engulfed in a deluge of tears. The tragedy has shattered their lives. In Jabalpur's Shaktinagar, close to Sakar Hills, the household of young software engineer Ashwini Costa is steeped in mourning. Upon Ashwini's arrival in Jabalpur, relatives were unable to contain their sorrow. Distraught and angry, the families of the victims seek justice. Suresh Costa, father of Ashwini, expressed devastation over lost dreams as Ashwini had just begun a new job in Pune in December. Anish's uncle questioned the police proceedings, while Anish's father, Akhilesh Awadhia, decried police investigation and the juvenile justice system. He described the juvenile defendant's bail conditions as ludicrous and accused the Maharashtra police force of corruption.
