On the first day of the Parliament's winter session, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, congratulated Chairman Radhakrishnan on assuming office. During this time, he also launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling party.
Kharge expressed his regret that the house did not get the opportunity to bid farewell to the former Vice President (Jagdeep Dhankhar). In a humorous manner, he advised Chairman CP Radhakrishnan by saying, “Do not look too much to that side from your seat; there is danger in it. If you do not look here, there is danger as well. So, it's better to maintain a balance on both sides.”
Wishing CP Radhakrishnan a successful tenure, Kharge remarked that even though the Prime Minister mentioned his background, it should not be forgotten that he 'comes from the Congress family.'

Following this, Kharge targeted Prime Minister Modi, stating, “Prime Minister gave a thunderous speech outside and held a press conference, indirectly attacking us (the opposition), but we will respond here with issues and counter them strongly.”
Quoting Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Kharge emphasized the role of the opposition in a democracy. He stated, “A democracy can turn into dictatorship if it does not allow opposing groups to criticize the government's policies with impartiality, freedom, and candor.”
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju strongly objected to the statement made by the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge. Rijiju reminded that the opposition should not forget their previous behavior, sarcastically recalling that last time they “used derogatory language and issued a removal notice against the then-Chairman, hurting the dignity of the upper house.”
