The fifth day's parliamentary session began amidst uproar. In both houses of Parliament, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, opposition lawmakers created a commotion over NEET issues, chanting slogans. As soon as the Lok Sabha proceedings began, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi raised the NEET issue. Prior to the discussion on the President's speech, Gandhi requested a debate concerning NEET. To this, Speaker Om Birla stated that during the discussion of the President's speech, members could speak on any subject.

When Lok Sabha’s proceedings began, Speaker Om Birla informed the house of the passing of 13 former members. A moment of silence was observed in mourning. Thereafter, Birla asked members to place their name-encoded documents on the parliamentary desk. At this juncture, Rahul Gandhi, raising the matter of NEET, called for a debate. In response to Gandhi's demand, Speaker Om Birla stated that any subject could be discussed in detail during the President's address. He added he expects the government to provide answers.

Gandhi requested a mere two minutes to speak. However, the Speaker insisted that Gandhi could utilize the entire allotted time for his party to speak in detail. Reminding him of his role as the Leader of the Opposition, Birla emphasized the importance of adhering to parliamentary decorum. After Gandhi's remarks, the Speaker clarified that he does not turn off the microphones; there is no such button. Rahul Gandhi expressed his intent to send a joint message to the students of India.

He further mentioned that this was why they had wanted to hold a detailed discussion on the students' issue. Following this, the opposition members escalated the ruckus with chants and slogans. In the midst of the commotion, Speaker Om Birla adjourned the session until noon. It's noteworthy that, after a meeting at Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge's residence the day before, the parties of the India Block decided to raise the issue of the NEET paper leak in Parliament. Gandhi had announced his intention to bring up the issue before the session commenced.

Gandhi argued that there should be a discussion on NEET in Parliament, emphasizing that the issue is closely related to the youth and should be addressed prior to other subjects. Gandhi relayed that in a meeting of all opposition party leaders yesterday, there was unanimous agreement on requiring a debate on NEET today. He appealed to the Prime Minister, requesting an early discussion on this youth-centric issue. The opposition remains assertive on the NEET paper leak controversy.
