He mentioned that when you look at financial statistics, tribals receive only 10 paise out of 100 rupees, Dalits get 5 rupees, and OBCs receive a similar amount. However, the reality is that they are not getting the participation they deserve. The problem is that 90% of the country's population does not have equal opportunities. Look at the list of the country's business leaders; show me a tribal, a Dalit, or an OBC. I think there is only one OBC among the top 200. They constitute 50% of India. Reservation is not the only tool; there are other tools as well.
Regarding the Uniform Civil Code, Rahul Gandhi said he would comment only after knowing the details of the BJP's proposal. The BJP is proposing the Uniform Civil Code, but we have not seen it yet. We don't know what they are talking about, so there is no point in commenting on it.
Earlier, addressing a program in Virginia, Rahul Gandhi said that BJP and RSS do not understand that this country belongs to everyone. Addressing the Indian diaspora community in Virginia, he said that RSS believes some states are inferior to others, some languages are inferior to others, some religions are inferior to others, and similarly, some communities are inferior to others.
Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi mentioned that the ideology of RSS believes Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, and Manipuri languages are inferior. Our fight is against this ideology. In reality, these people (RSS) do not understand India. We think that whether you are from Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, or any other state, each has its own history, tradition, and language, and each holds equal importance.
Targeting at the University of Texas
Earlier, on the first day of his US visit at the University of Texas, Rahul Gandhi addressed students and academicians, touching upon topics ranging from unemployment and inflation to Shiva and Buddha.
Explaining the meaning of the word 'deity,' Rahul Gandhi said that a deity is one whose inner feelings are exactly the same as their external expression. Simply put, a person with a clean heart and complete transparency is a deity.
He also shared his thoughts on Shiva's concept. He mentioned that you know about Shiva's concept, right? When they say Shiva is the destroyer, what is he destroying? Himself. That is the concept. He is destroying his ego, his structure, and his beliefs. This is how the idea of Indian politics needs to move forward.
