Madhavan expressed that realizing the dream of owning a yacht and acquiring a captain's license has been akin to achieving nirvana. Currently, his luxurious yacht is docked in Dubai, sitting as the second most expensive asset in his possession.
R. Madhavan attains captaincy
According to The Indian Express, Madhavan elaborated on fulfilling his old dream, 'The most expensive thing I've bought is my house. But, beyond that is my yacht.'
Madhavan credits the pandemic for the chance to achieve his dream. He explained, 'I bought it because I wanted the captain's license. COVID gave me nothing else to do, so I took the exam, and it took me six months. Now I’m a licensed captain, capable of operating a 40-foot yacht or a boat. I bought the yacht as a tick off my bucket list and I deeply enjoy it.'
Madhavan's yacht purchase brings him closer to 'nirvana'
He shared how the yacht provides him peace and spiritual satisfaction, 'It's my writing spot. I sail out, park in the sea, and watch dolphins play as I write. It's the best purchase of my life, currently in Dubai. It has brought me closer to nirvana.'
Estimates suggest that a 40-foot yacht can cost between 4 to 20 crore rupees. Despite being from the entertainment industry, Madhavan claims not to amass significant wealth as he strictly follows laws and pays his taxes. However, purchasing the yacht was a proud moment for him, as it brings immense joy to him and his family.
