Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a new decree. Simply put, it's an order. It states that the number of personnel in the country’s armed forces will increase to 2,389,130, with 1.5 million active military personnel.

With this decree, Russia will surpass the United States, becoming the world’s second-largest army. Based on the latest data, the ranking of the world’s largest armies with active soldiers is as follows:

China ranks first with 2.35 million active soldiers. Russia comes in at second place with 1.5 million active soldiers. India takes the third spot with 1.455 million active soldiers. The United States is in fourth place with 1.328 million active soldiers, and North Korea ranks fifth with 1.32 million active soldiers.

Since the attack on Ukraine, Putin has increased the troop count for the third time. This time, approximately 180,000 soldiers will be added to the army. Prior to this, in June of this year, Putin increased the number of soldiers.

Approximately 700,000 Russian soldiers are currently engaged in combat with Ukraine. An additional 300,000 soldiers are kept on reserve for the conflict in Ukraine. Russia is actively recruiting young volunteers, offering them high salaries and various incentives.

Russia is three times larger than Ukraine in terms of population and land area. However, Kyiv’s military forces have prevented Russia from capturing key positions for over two and a half years. This has resulted in significant losses for Russia, which is why they often withhold detailed military information.

The Russian military is currently guarding a 1,000-kilometer long border adjacent to Eastern Ukraine. They are engaged in pushing back Ukrainian forces and NATO troops who are assisting them, particularly in the Kursk region.
