The Ludhiana Police have successfully thwarted a large-scale terrorist conspiracy aimed at destabilizing Punjab. Acting promptly on intelligence, the police foiled a potential grenade attack in a densely populated area, averting significant loss of life and property. Ten individuals have been arrested, with efforts ongoing to gather information on their overseas handlers, suspected to have ties to Pakistan.

Under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and with Red Corner Notices issued, foreign suspects are under scrutiny. At a press conference, Ludhiana Police Commissioner Swapne Sharma revealed that based on reliable intelligence on October 27, 2025, suspects Kuldip Singh, Shekhar Singh, and Avi Singh, alias Avi from Muktasar Sahib, were apprehended for plotting a grenade attack in a bustling Ludhiana area.

Explosions Were Planned in Crowded Areas

Charges under the Explosive Substances Act and the Bharat Nyaay Sanhita (BNS) have been filed against the suspects at Ludhiana's Division Number 5 police station. Considering the case's gravity, special teams led by DCP (Investigation) and DCP (City) were formed. Initial investigations revealed that Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI directed attackers via foreign handlers to launch grenade attacks in Ludhiana's densely populated areas to create panic in the state.

Further inquiry identified Avi, aka Avi Vishwakarma from Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar, Pawan Deep, and Bahubali from Bilaspur, as occupants of a shared flat abroad. Their local associates Amrik Singh and Parminder, alias Mini, have past involvement in arms trafficking. Avi Vishwakarma's brother, Mavi, was previously arrested under the NDPS Act and is currently jailed for drug trafficking in Ganganagar, Rajasthan. Ludhiana Police have detained him on a production warrant due to his intermediary role.

Local Network Supplying Grenades Exposed

The probe uncovered a local network supplying grenades in Punjab. Local suppliers, including Sukhpreet Singh, alias Sukh Barad from Faridkot, Sukhmander Singh, Sanju from Sri Muktsar Sahib, and Karanveer Singh, alias Macki from Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, were arrested by police. Seized items included a Chinese hand grenade, black masks, and gloves. Ludhiana Police Commissioner Swapne Sharma stated that investigations continue, with international assistance sought to trace foreign handlers.
