In a shocking road mishap in Pune, Maharashtra that claimed the lives of two software engineers, opposition parties have sharpened their swords against the state government. Maharashtrian leader Supriya Sule of the opposition Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) and Shiv Sena UBT leader Sanjay Raut have accused Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Both leaders alleged that police station indulgence of pizza was offered to the accused and demanded an investigation.
Supriya Sule insisted that those in power must come clean about who attempted to influence the police in the Pune Porsche car accident case.
Who Offered the Pizza?
Sule says, 'I am seeking answers from Devendra Fadnavis; he stated that the police should not succumb to political pressure. Who exerted this political pressure? Only those in the seats of power can exert such pressure on the police. Who called for the boy's bail and despite the heinous nature of the crime, how was the minor granted bail? Who helped this boy? Who offered him pizza and biryani? The truth must be revealed.'
Accusations by Sanjay Raut and Police Retort
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, demanding the removal of Pune Police Commissioner over the issue, alleged that after detaining the juvenile, pizza and burgers were served to him at the police station. He claimed that Pune police assisted a wealthy boy who killed two young individuals and now a video has surfaced showing the boy drinking alcohol. Raut announced that legislators from the Ajit Pawar faction were present to aid him.
Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar refuted Raut's claims, stating that no pizza was served to the juvenile during his detention following the incident.
NCP Lawmaker's Presence Questioned
Previously, Baramati MP Supriya Sule claimed that an MLA from Ajit Pawar's led NCP, Sunil Tingre, intervened in the case after the accident. She expressed, 'I also want to know how (MLA) Sunil Tingre intervened and assisted in (securing) bail. The state government is negligent and insensitive, whether it's drunk driving cases or the seizure of narcotics in Pune—they're uninterested in resolving issues.'
Legislator's Clarification on the Allegations
Sunil Tingre responded to these allegations by clarifying that his PA's call at 3:21 AM informed him of a major accident. Subsequently, he received calls from many activists and Vishal Agrawal. Tingre added that prior to his political career, he worked alongside Vishal Agrawal; this is the extent of their relationship. He affirmed his support for the victims' families and demanded the release of the police station CCTV footage.
It is crucial to note that in Pune's Kalyani Nagar, early Sunday, a minor allegedly driving a Porsche ran over two motorcycle-borne software engineers resulting in their deaths. The police claim that at the time the teenager was intoxicated. The accused driver is the son of real estate developer Vishal Agrawal.
