The passage of the Waqf Bill through Parliament and its signing into law by the President has sparked protests from various Muslim organizations nationwide. Leading the charge in West Bengal is Siddiqullah Chowdhury, president of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind Bengal chapter, who also serves as a minister in Mamata Banerjee's government.
Siddiqullah Chowdhury stated, "The Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind is determined to collect signatures from ten million people against the Waqf Bill and submit the proposal to Prime Minister Modi. One million people from Bengal will sign, and it will be sent to Narendra Modi. The RSS and BJP are targeting the Muslim community through this bill."
Siddiqullah Chowdhury has indeed orchestrated this protest at Kolkata's Ramlila Maidan, where thousands are present.
BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain claimed that the opposition is inciting Muslims, after first stirring discontent over the CAA and now focusing on the Waqf Bill.

West Bengal's Leader of the Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, commented, "Attacks on public property are unacceptable. Everyone must respect the country's laws. How can the Chief Minister declare it unconstitutional? The Waqf Bill is now law, and everyone must adhere to it."
