In Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, under the jurisdiction of Jhunsi police station, an FIR has been registered against Swami Avimukteshwaranand and Mukundanand Brahmachari's disciples for alleged sexual abuse, as per the directives of the ADJ POCSO Court. The complainant, Ashutosh Brahmachari, asserted on February 25, 2026, that he possesses substantial evidence to warrant strict legal action against the accused. He termed it a 'religious conflict' and demanded an unbiased and transparent investigation. Meanwhile, the victims have voiced their ordeal on AajTak.

Harassment in the Name of Spiritual Guidance

Two students have come forward with grave accusations against Swami Avimukteshwaranand, Mukundanand Prakash Upadhyay, and others. They claim they were allegedly harassed and subjected to indecent acts under the pretext of spiritual initiation.

‘Bringing Children from Rajasthan and Bihar’

In the interview, the students alleged that they were presented before others and subsequently subjected to alleged inappropriate actions. They also accused that children were brought from outside, particularly from Rajasthan and Bihar. According to them, around 20 other students have allegedly suffered similar harassment but are fearful of coming forward and are trapped.

‘Influential and Dignified Individuals Used to Visit’

Naming some accused, the students said that many outsiders, reportedly influential and well-dressed individuals, frequented the monastery complex. Although they did not publicly name anyone, they claimed recognition. The students stated they were threatened into silence if they resisted. Additionally, they revealed there is a room where some female companions bathe in the swimming pool.

‘Escaped from the Monastery and Revealed the Truth’

They also claimed to have reached out to another religious leader after escaping the monastery and disclosed everything. They allege they continue to receive threats, and many children remain trapped there.

It is noteworthy that an FIR has already been registered in this entire controversy, and the matter is before the court. An official response from the concerned parties is awaited regarding these allegations. Police and investigative agencies are thoroughly examining the issue. The truth of the allegations will only surface once the investigation is complete.

‘Complainant Ashutosh Maharaj Himself with the Police…’

Meanwhile, Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand has raised serious questions about the police investigation and the accusations made during the ongoing Varanasi incident. He expressed bewilderment over the complainant Ashutosh Maharaj accompanying the police in the investigation. According to him, it is incomprehensible how an impartial investigation can occur while the complainant is present.
