Former Mokama MLA and powerful leader Anant Singh received significant relief from the Patna High Court. The High Court has acquitted him in the AK-47 case due to lack of evidence.
Previously, the civil court had sentenced him. With this decision, the path for his release from jail is clear. A few years ago, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison by a Patna court under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Earlier, he was granted parole in May. He was out on 15-day parole. It is noteworthy that Anant Singh was elected from Mokama for the fourth consecutive time but was disqualified after being convicted.
