PM Modi honors Guru Ravidas, says teachings still relevant

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Dera Sachkhand Ballan in Jalandhar, Punjab, to pay tribute on the 649th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas. The PM praised the dera for its work in social reform and unveiled the new name of Adampur Airport, bringing a significant gift to the state. This visit followed shortly after the announcement of the Padma Shri award for Dera head Sant Niranjan Das. The Prime Minister highly commended the social service initiatives undertaken by Dera Sachkhand Ballan.

'I bow to this sacred land'

Addressing the gathering, he expressed, 'I bow to this sacred land of Punjab and draw inspiration from the path shown by Guru Ravidas.' According to him, the blessings of Sant Ravidas will lead the nation on a path of progress. Emotionally, in his speech, the PM remarked, 'The people of Varanasi have blessed me and given me the opportunity to serve as their MP. We draw inspiration from Guru Ravidas Ji.'

'Teachings still relevant today'

He stated that Guru Ravidas was a great poet and social reformer whose teachings remain relevant today. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that, with the blessings of Sant Ravidas, goals for a developed India will be achieved. The event witnessed immense enthusiasm among Dera followers. Earlier, the Prime Minister arrived at the Adampur Airport around 3:45 PM, where he renamed it as Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji Airport. Additionally, he virtually inaugurated the new civil terminal building at Halwara Airport in Ludhiana.
