Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his podcast debut with Zerodha founder Nikhil Kamath, illuminated the significance of mission-driven leadership in politics, drawing inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi. PM Modi noted that although Gandhi was not a great orator, his deep connection with people and his actions united the nation.

Emphasizing authenticity and connection in effective political leadership, PM Modi said, "Gandhi himself never wore a cap, yet the world remembers the 'Gandhi cap.' This symbolizes the power of true communication and leadership."

Responding to Kamath’s query about the talents essential for entering politics, PM Modi remarked, "Entering politics is easy, but achieving success is a completely different challenge." Success in politics demands immense dedication, constant engagement with people through their highs and lows, and the ability to work as a team player. If someone assumes that everyone will heed their advice or follow their method of working, they are mistaken. Though they might win some elections, there is no guarantee they will emerge as successful leaders."

He compared the challenges during India’s freedom struggle to the political landscape post-independence, stating, "During India’s freedom struggle, individuals from diverse backgrounds participated and contributed in various ways. Some educated the masses, others engaged in producing khadi, while many worked on tribal upliftment among other roles. They were all united by a common sense of patriotism."

He added, "Post-independence, some of these individuals entered politics, bringing unmatched maturity, dedication, and a profound sense of purpose with them."

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of entering politics "not for personal ambitions, but with a mission."

According to the Prime Minister, eloquent "professional politicians" might remain relevant for some time, but they do not endure in the long run.

When asked about youth participation in politics, he mentioned, "India requires a hundred thousand dedicated young politicians motivated by a selfless desire to serve the nation. Politics should not be about taking, getting, and creating. Such an approach will not last long."

When prompted to compare entrepreneurship and politics, PM Modi explained that while entrepreneurs work towards their company's growth and success, politics is fundamentally about prioritizing the nation first.
