The grand stage of the Olympic Games took place in Paris this year. The Paris Olympics began on July 26 and concluded on August 11. A 117-member Indian contingent traveled to Paris, with most athletes having returned home. Upon their return, they received a warm welcome. On August 15 (Thursday), athletes met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence on 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, and the first video of this meeting has surfaced.
Athletes' Gifts to PM Modi
PM Modi received various unique gifts from the Indian athletes. Shooter Manu Bhaker presented a pistol to PM Modi. Wrestler Aman Sehrawat and hockey stalwart PR Sreejesh gifted a jersey featuring signatures from Indian athletes. Indian hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh gifted a hockey stick on behalf of his team. During the event, PM Modi also addressed the athletes, though the details of his speech are yet to be disclosed.
Some Indian athletes have not yet returned to the country. Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra is in Germany for surgery, while wrestler Vinesh Phogat will return to India on August 17. Badminton player PV Sindhu also wasn't part of the event. Sindhu missed making history by losing in the Round of 16 during the Paris Olympics. Before meeting with the Prime Minister, Indian athletes also participated in the Independence Day celebrations.

India recently concluded the games with a total of six medals - one silver and five bronze. India's first medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics came from shooting when Manu Bhaker clinched bronze in the Women's 10m Air Pistol. Manu Bhaker also won another bronze in the Mixed Team event alongside Sarabjot Singh.
Swapnil Kusale earned the third bronze medal in Men's 50m Rifle Three Positions in shooting. The men's hockey team contributed another bronze, and javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra secured the silver medal. Lastly, wrestler Aman Sehrawat won the bronze in Men's 57kg freestyle.
