Following the end of the campaign for the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Tamil Nadu. On reaching Kanyakumari, PM Modi could spend time in deep meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. Voting for 57 Lok Sabha seats in the seventh phase is scheduled for June 1, with campaign activity concluding on the evening of May 30. Sources indicate that PM Modi is set to arrive in Kanyakumari on the night of May 30, soon after the campaign freeze.
According to information, PM Modi may visit the Vivekananda Rock Memorial on May 31 and is expected to dedicate the entire day to meditation. Prior to this, PM Modi has a rally scheduled in Punjab on May 30. He will address a public meeting in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, and later continue on his journey to Tamil Nadu, where he shall also rest for the night. The official program for May 31 and June 1 has not yet been announced.
PM Modi to Meditate After Campaign Ends
PM Modi plans to visit Kanyakumari from May 30 to June 1, following the campaign's conclusion. He will visit the Rock Memorial and is expected to meditate day and night at the Dhyan Mandapam, the same location where Swami Vivekananda once meditated.
Why Choose Kanyakumari?
The Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari is the place where Swami Vivekananda received the vision of Mother India. The rock had a profound impact on his life. People believe just as Sarnath holds a special place in the life of Gautam Buddha, this rock holds a comparable place in Vivekananda's life. After traveling across the country, he arrived here and meditated for three days, envisioning a developed India.
Meditating there signifies PM Modi's commitment to bringing Vivekananda's vision of a developed India to life.
The Significance of This Place
Tradition states that the goddess Parvati also waited for Lord Shiva at this same spot on one leg. It is the southernmost tip of India, where the eastern and western coastlines meet. It is also the confluence of the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, and the Arabian Sea.
PM Modi's visit to Kanyakumari after the election signals a gesture toward national unity. It also shows his deep commitment and love for Tamil Nadu as he plans to visit the state even after the elections. PM Modi is known for taking spiritual journeys after campaign trails. This time on May 30, he will proceed to Kanyakumari and will stay until June 1. He did something similar in 2019 when he visited Kedarnath, and in 2014, he visited Shivaji's Pratapgad.
Prime Minister Modi had gone to Kedarnath after Campaigning in 2019
This is not the first time Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sought meditation post-election campaign. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, after the final phase, he went to meditate at the Kedarnath Temple in Uttarakhand, meditating in the Rudra Gufa cave. This year, he is heading to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari. His meditation program will coincide with the period between the end of campaigning and voting.
