A passenger plane belonging to a Chinese oil company has tragically crashed in South Sudan, claiming the lives of 20 out of the 21 individuals on board, including one Indian national.

According to South Sudanese officials, the leased aircraft went down in a remote area of South Sudan. It was reportedly rented by China's Greater Pioneer Operating Company and was carrying a total of 21 people, including two pilots.

Oil Company Employees Were Onboard

Officials revealed the plane was en route to the capital of South Sudan when it crashed near an oil field in Unity State. Local media reported all passengers were employees of the oil company.

Majority of Victims Local Residents

UN-affiliated Radio Miraya, citing the flight manifest, stated most victims were local South Sudanese residents, including one Indian and two Chinese nationals. Authorities have yet to identify the victims officially.

US Blackhawk Collision

Earlier in the day, a military Blackhawk helicopter collided with a passenger plane in Washington DC, USA. This incident involved 64 passengers on the plane and three aboard the military helicopter, with 19 bodies recovered so far.
