UP Police and Punjab Police Joint Operation:

On Monday morning, three suspected Khalistani terrorists involved in the grenade attack in Gurdaspur, Punjab, were neutralized in a police encounter in Pilibhit, UP. Punjab Police pursued the terrorists over a staggering distance of 756 kilometers. With support from UP Police, the operation was successfully executed. Punjab's Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav declared this a significant breakthrough against the Pakistan-sponsored terrorist module.

An intense encounter unfolded in Pilibhit's Puranpur between the members of the Khalistan Zindabad Force and the combined might of Uttar Pradesh and Punjab Police teams. Director General Yadav identified the three terrorists as Varinder Singh alias Ravi (23), Gurvinder Singh (25), and Jashanpreet Singh alias Pratap Singh (18), all residents of the Kalanaur police jurisdiction.

According to the DGP, these individuals were linked to an assault on Bakshi wala Police Station in Punjab's Gurdaspur district. Fortunately, the recent incident at Bakshi wala did not result in any injuries.

Amitabh Yash, Uttar Pradesh's Additional Director General (Law and Order), highlighted that the trio was directly involved in the grenade attack at the Gurdaspur police post. He reported that after the encounter, the terrorists were critically wounded and immediately taken to the CHC Purunpar for treatment. ADG Yash confirmed to PTI that the suspects subsequently succumbed to their injuries. The operation led to the confiscation of two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols, and a substantial amount of ammunition.

In an X post, Punjab Police Chief Gaurav Yadav celebrated the joint effort between the UP and Punjab Police, marking a substantial victory against the Pakistan-backed Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) terrorist module. The accused had reportedly opened fire on the police team.

The DGP announced that this module actively participated in grenade assaults on police installations in Punjab's border areas. He stated, 'An encounter took place within Pilibhit's Puranpur jurisdiction involving the joint police teams from Pilibhit and Punjab against terrorists implicated in the Gurdaspur police post grenade attack.'

In a follow-up post on X, DGP Yadav elaborated, 'This module is orchestrated by KZF chief Ranjit Singh Neeta and led by Jaswinder Singh Mannu, residing in Greece, a native of Agwan village. It is controlled by Jagjit Singh, based in the UK, who served in the British Army under the alias Fateh Singh Baggi.'

He assured that the investigation to unearth all connections and members of the module is ongoing, with further recoveries and arrests expected. DGP Yadav expressed gratitude towards Uttar Pradesh Police for their unwavering support in the inter-state operation. Through a video statement, he acknowledged, 'This reflects excellent inter-state collaboration where UP and Punjab police forces synergized effectively. Upon receiving intel, a coordinated operation against the criminals was launched.'

Notably, earlier this month, Punjab's Amritsar witnessed an explosion at the Islamabad police station, akin to the Bakshi wala incident. Thankfully, no casualties were reported. The Amritsar incident succeeded an attack in Nawanshahr, where a grenade was hurled at a police post.

Referring to the grenade assault, Congress MP Sukhjinder Randhawa remarked, 'There has been a significant conspiracy to destabilize Punjab to this day. While industries are exiting, and locals are increasingly unwilling to work here, young people flee in fear. However, the police initially denied that an attack occurred, attributing it to a mere tire burst.'
