The seat-sharing conundrum for Bihar's 40 Lok Sabha spots between Congress and RJD is still not ironed out. Amidst these developments, Purnia's Rupauli MLA Bima Bharti has resigned from JDU and joined Lalu Yadav's party, Rashtriya Janata Dal. With her inclusion, speculations are rife that she might be fielded from Purnia for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Following this news, Congress leader Pappu Yadav, who had his eyes set on representing the grand alliance from Purnia, expressed his discontent. He tweeted on Saturday night, 'We might leave the world, but not Purnia,' indicating his deep commitment to the constituency. Pappu Yadav has now voiced his stance more clearly.
Pappu Yadav fumes at RJD
On his controversial tweet regarding Purnia, Pappu Yadav asserts, 'I am guided by the trust, blessings of a family, and the ideology of the party. The leadership of that party now bears all these responsibilities. I've been serving the region of Kosi and the whole of Bihar for the past 2 and 5 years, respectively.'
He added, 'Lalu Yadav wanted me to contest from Madhepura, but I declined, making it clear that I cannot abandon Purnia. He wished for me to join RJD, but the faith shown in me by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi was sufficient. I decided to join Congress.'
I will only contest from Purnia: Pappu Yadav
He stated, 'My tweet - we will leave the world but not Purnia - signifies my dedication, so I'll adhere to any responsibility bestowed upon me by the leadership. Trust is of utmost importance to me, not the position. If I have to contest, it will be from Purnia only.'
Bima Bharti ready to enter the fray
On the other hand, Bima Bharti has announced her readiness to contest if RJD's national president, Lalu Yadav, fields her from Purnia. Her supporters reportedly have been eagerly waiting for this opportunity.
