An astonishing incident has emerged from Pakistan where a beggar was found with over 500,000 rupees in his pocket. The elderly beggar, lying unconscious on the road, had the money discovered during a rescue operation on the way to the hospital.
According to a report by Geo TV, the beggar was found in an unconscious state on Khushab Road in the Sargodha district of Punjab province. The rescue team, transporting the elderly to the hospital, reported that 534,000 rupees were retrieved from him.
The Beggar's Frequent Journeys to Saudi Arabia
A passport was also found with the beggar, revealing multiple trips to Saudi Arabia. This suggests that the elderly man visited Saudi Arabia to beg.
A local official reported, 'An anonymous call led the rescue team to aid the elderly man. Residents of the area informed the team that the man begged in the same locality.'
Rescue officials mentioned that after the elderly was taken to the hospital and recovered, all his money and belongings were returned to him on his way home.
Pakistanis Begging on Umrah Visas in Saudi Arabia
Last September, reports indicated that Pakistani citizens were begging in Saudi Arabia using Umrah visas.
The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development informed the Senate committee that many beggars travel abroad through human trafficking channels.
The ministry told the Senate committee that 90% of beggars arrested abroad are Pakistani.
The secretary of the ministry stated, 'Ambassadors from Iraq and Saudi Arabia have mentioned that such arrests have overcrowded their prisons. Most pickpockets caught outside Masjid al-Haram in Saudi Arabia are of Pakistani origin. These individuals arrive in Saudi for begging purposes on Umrah visas.'
