In a tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, three tourists from Gujarat lost their lives. Deeply saddened by the incident, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel expressed his heartfelt condolences and announced financial assistance of ₹5 lakh to the families who lost their loved ones, and ₹50,000 for those injured.
On social media platform X, the Chief Minister wrote late Wednesday night, 'The Gujarat government stands in full sympathy with the families of the tourists killed in the terrorist attack. The government will provide ₹5 lakh to the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.'
Victims of this terrorist act include father and son duo, Yatish Parmar and Smit Parmar, from Bhavnagar, along with Shailesh Kalathiya from Surat. All three died at the scene. The government has stated that Chief Minister Patel is scheduled to visit Bhavnagar on Thursday to pay tribute to the Parmar family and extend his condolences in person.
It's noteworthy that Pahalgam is a prominent tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir, attracting thousands of tourists annually. Such terrorist attacks have once again shaken the entire nation. In response, local administration and security forces have heightened their vigilance and a search operation is underway in the area.
The financial aid announced by the Chief Minister may provide some relief to the victims' families. However, there is an urgent need for the government and security forces to adopt stricter measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, the Central Government has decided to convene an all-party meeting on Thursday. According to official sources, this meeting might be presided over by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. Home Minister Amit Shah and Foreign Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will brief leaders from various parties about the circumstances of the attack and actions taken thus far.
Sources suggest that both Home Minister Shah and Defense Minister Singh are in ongoing communication with leaders from different political factions, seeking their support and guidance on this grave issue.
Earlier, the Congress and several opposition parties requested that the government engage with all political parties on this sensitive issue and call for an all-party meeting to share comprehensive details of the situation.
The initiative by the government has been regarded as a positive step by the opposition, with hopes for a detailed discussion on aspects concerning national security during the meeting, potentially leading to a unified strategy moving forward.
