The BJP administration in Odisha is seen springing into action after the oath-taking ceremony. On Wednesday, the Chief Minister along with 15 ministers took oaths, and within a few hours, the first cabinet meeting decided that all four gates of the Sri Jagannath Temple in Puri would be reopened on Thursday morning, and a 500-crore fund would be established for the maintenance of this 12th century temple. Not only have these two proposals concerning the temple been approved, but the CM and his cabinet have reached Puri on Wednesday night itself. In their presence, the temple gates are being opened on Thursday morning.
The BJP had promised in its election manifesto to open the gates of the Jagannath Temple, which had been closed during the Covid period, causing inconvenience to devotees. Now, worshippers will be allowed entry through all four gates, easing crowd management.
