In the world of cricket, USA's Nitish Kumar has been making waves. With a pivotal performance in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 against Pakistan, he secured a historic win for his team. Facing a thrilling last-ball challenge, he skillfully drove Haris Rauf's delivery to the boundary. His quick 14 runs not out, including a crucial boundary, took the match to a deciding super over, where the USA clinched their first-ever victory over Pakistan.
...A terrifying incident in Nitish's past
Born on May 21, 1994, in Ontario, Nitish Kumar's journey wasn't always smooth. In 2005, he was severely injured in a car accident while traveling in England with his father. Sadly, his father, Vikal, passed away in the accident. Nitish, seated in the back of the car, spent a month in hospital, unaware of his father's demise until he returned to Canada. Over time, he overcame this tragedy and forged a name for himself in cricket.
A master of switching teams, Nitish first played cricket at the Under-15 level for the USA, then for Canada. He went on to debut internationally for Canada in February 2010 against Afghanistan, aged 15 years and 273 days, becoming the third-youngest cricketer to debut in a One Day International (ODI).
Nitish Kumar's historic 2011 Cricket World Cup participation with Canada marked him as the youngest player in World Cup history, at just 16 years and 283 days old. After last representing Canada in an international match against the UAE on October 27, 2019, he continued to lead the team in numerous ODIs and T20 internationals.
